Songwriting

Songwriting is where imagination, emotion, and melody meet—turning moments, memories, and fragments of thought into something that can be heard, felt, and remembered.

Long before I officially considered myself a songwriter, I was already playing with words and music. As a child, I would make up songs, improvise lyrics, or rewrite the words to songs I already knew just for fun. I loved the freedom of changing a familiar song into something completely different, often using humor, imagination, and whatever happened to come into my mind at the time.

My songwriting journey became more intentional in my mid-twenties when I joined my first original band. That was when I realized the poetry I had been writing for years could become lyrics—and that those lyrics could take on an entirely new life when combined with melody, rhythm, and a band. What began as a natural extension of my love for writing and music grew into more than 40 original songs.

My songs have been inspired by relationships, heartbreak, confidence, frustration, personal growth, humor, and the many different versions of myself I have experienced along the way. Some begin with a phrase or lyric that will not leave my mind. Others start with a feeling, a story, a melody, or even a spontaneous idea that develops while I am singing. I do not believe creativity always arrives in a neat or predictable way. Sometimes the strongest ideas appear when I stop trying to force them and simply allow the words to come.

Songwriting gives me the ability to say things differently than I might in an ordinary conversation. A song can hold vulnerability and strength at the same time. It can preserve a moment, transform a difficult experience, make someone laugh, or help another person feel less alone. Each song becomes its own snapshot of who I was, what I felt, and what I needed to express when I wrote it.

This page is a growing home for my original music. I will continue adding songs, videos, lyrics, recordings, and the stories behind them—sharing not only the finished work, but pieces of the creative journey that brought each song to life.

Featured Original Song

“Wings” is one of my most personal and spiritual original songs—a reflection on protection, healing, resilience, and the strength it takes to rise through the pain we experience in life.

The music for “Wings” was given to me, and when I heard it, the words seemed to come naturally. The song became a message about my guardian angels and the feeling that, even through difficult moments, I have never been completely alone. It speaks to moving through hurt without allowing it to destroy you, finding strength within yourself, and trusting that something greater is helping guide and protect you.

The chorus captures the heart of the song:

I’m stronger than the hurt,
Not blinded by the sting,
I’ll never fall apart.
Been saved from many things,
Reminded as I sing,
That I’m safe beneath your wings.

For me, “Wings” is both a declaration of strength and a reminder of faith. It represents surviving what was meant to break me, recognizing the protection that has surrounded me, and continuing to rise with hope, courage, and gratitude.
